I've found numerius programs for structural steel so far but haven't decided which one will I use... Also looked into Tekla... Seems like Tekla is the most common used for the steel detailing. But the cost is $23000. So, I'm continuing my research and ran into StruCad. Requested some info - they sent me 2 pdf files (attached it to my post). I read the files and that's all I know about the software so far. If you work on it - please let me know; i have some questions. If you don't know about it a lot and want to know more, please download the pdfs.
Thanks

◆◆Go back to drafting - steel detailing...◆◆
I work as a steel detailer and mostly draw my shop drawings in 2-d. But when we get a more complicated steel job then usual, my brain starts to cook... it's hard to think everything through without a 3d modeling software. So, I've done a little research on the structural steel and found a great software for steel detailing... well I've seen more then one of course, but the most used and easy to use was Tekla Structures or X-Steel (old name) (I think it's easy to use... haven't learned it yet, 'cause need to buy it first....haha). Buy it... yeah.. if you have an extra $23000! My friend said, for that price it has to have no bugs and do everything including laundry. It does do everything the pertains to steel and concrete... the light version is a little cheaper: $12000.
The price is not the only problem. There are not much tutorials. You need to pay $2000 extra to get their training. Check here though: http://youtube.com/user/flyingbluefox

♥♥Is AUTOCAD LT the best???♥♥
Hello, this is Vik. I will be writing this blog on my lunchtime.
Working as a drafter. Using Autocad LT 2007 and '08 @ work and full autocad @ home.
I want to get some opinions from professional drafters. I will be giving away some of my secrets... maybe.. :) and want you to also share your experience. Also hoping to get advices and give advices if it's not out of my knowlege box.
So, first what do you think about Autocad LT? Is it enaugh for professional drafter or it has its limits...? I know it depends on the task that you using it for: what kind of drawings, the purpose and so on... But as far as the features and commands: like MTEXT, ML...
... there is no ML by the way-trick question:)...
Let me know what do you think...
